Ownership (LU)

Updated: Sep 25, 2018

I recently, as in 24 hours ago, had to purposefully STOP investigating platforms so that I could focus on ownership of my eportfolio.  Sometimes I get really, really focused on something.  As in to my own detriment.  One track minded and hyper focused.  I stay up to late tinkering and then am exhausted the next day.  I still want to check out Weebly and Wix, but before I do more with my platform, I had to think about how I am storing and retrieving things.

But sometimes you need to.

I started off my first class using my professional Google drive.  That sounded fancier than my "work" Google drive.  After lots of reading, I am thinking that I should house my eportfolio in a location that will stay with me no matter what my future might bring.  Although I'm not a person who tends to bounce around from job to job (I have only worked in two school districts), if I'm still blogging by the time I retire, no matter where that might be from, I want to know that I won't lose all the work that I am doing.  I don't want to lose the learning and growth over the years that will be represented by my eportfolio.  So, I began my quest to transfer my Google folder aptly named, Lamar.  Google Takeout to the rescue!  That turned out to be the easy part.  A little time consuming, but easy enough.  It was actually more difficult to transfer ownership of my blog.  I couldn't sign far enough out of Google to allow me to make me a different owner of my own blog.  Sounds silly...but I think I've finally accomplished it.

My next steps over the weekend are to make sure all my links to work that I've published in my Google drive are working now that the content is moved and my blog is under new management (the old owner was an old crowe).   So, if you are checking this out and something isn't working, let me know.  Feedback is a good thing.  Enough for tonight.  I think I'll go pick up the astrophysics books I've been reading.
