About Me
I'm Ann. Mom, teacher, student and occasional Netflix binge watcher. I've been an educator for over 15 years. I'm in graduate school now because I felt compelled to learn more about my career, the digital future in education and learning. Our experiences shape our understanding of the world around us. If we can leverage those experiences, combine them with authentic environments, real world problems to solve, and help build students' belief that they are capable, even if they haven't gotten there yet, our learners can change the world. Want to know more thoughts on my learning philosophy? The more I learn, more I can't contain my excitement. I'm sure there are plenty of other things I could share about myself, but I'm going to keep this short and sweet.
Here are the highlights:
-
Born in McAllen, TX a long while back
-
Moved to Woodward, OK half way through high school
-
Attended the University of Oklahoma
-
Earned my BS in Education (major Science Education) from OU
-
I have settled in Allen, TX after some North Texas apartment hopping and had a couple of the world's most wonderful kiddos (Evelyn and Alyssa)
-
There have been some pets in the mix along the way. Currently Lilly the 🐕, Buttercup the 🐈 and a tiny school of 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟 round out our busy life.
-
I've taught middle school and high school science for 15 years and in the Fall of 2018 I stepped out of the classroom to become a technology instructional specialist
-
If "adulting" weren't challenging, rewarding, and busy enough, I decided if I was going to get through grad school, it was now or never
-
Midway through my grad school program, I learned A LOT about working through major life curveballs
-
"Sometimes you have to let go of the picture of what you thought life would be like & learn to find joy in the story you're living" - in reference to those curveballs...this holds a lot of meaning for me

So here I am! A Lamar University college kid.
